Mazda Production and Sales Results for April 2008 (Flash Report)

Mazda Motor Corporation’s production and sales results for April 2008 are summarized below.

I. Production

Note: As of January 2007, overseas production figures are based on Mazda brand units coming off the production line (does not include CKD kits).

1. Domestic Production
The domestic production volume for April 2008 increased 23.1% over the same month last year due to additional production of the Mazda2 (known as the Mazda Demio in Japan) for the European market and increased production of the Mazda6 (Atenza), CX-7 and other models.

Mazda6 (Atenza):	13,661 units	(up 63.1% year-on-year)
CX-7:	5,191 units	(up 60.4% year-on-year)

2. Overseas Production
Overseas production increased 24.7% compared to the same month in the previous year owing mainly to healthy production of the Mazda6, BT-50, and Mazda3.

BT-50:	5,787 units	(up 30.9% year-on-year)
Mazda3:	3,923 units	(up 16.3% year-on-year)

II. Domestic sales

Domestic sales exceeded the figure for the same month last year, up 1.8% over April 2007, mainly due to brisk sales of the Mazda2 (Demio), Mazda6 (Atenza) and RX-8.
Mazda’s registered vehicle market share was 5.4%, down 0.1 points, with a 2.6% share of the micro-mini segment (down 0.2 points) and a 4.4 % total market share, unchanged from April 2007.

III. Exports

Exports increased over the same period last year, up 54.0% in April 2008. This result is mainly due to increased shipments of the Mazda3, Mazda6 and Mazda2.
On a market basis, exports to North America, Europe, Oceania and other markets (Africa, Asia, and the Middle East) were healthy.
